The Society of Companion Animal Rescuers (SoCares) manages the council impounding function for Central Coast Council; reuniting and rehoming lost and abandoned animals

SoCares is looking for an experienced Animal Attendant to join our dedicated team in both our Charmhaven and Erina Facilities . You must be positive, motivated, reliable and willing to perform a range of leadership & Animal Attendant responsibilities; ensuring a high standard of animal care at all times

This role will commence as a casual role requiring the successful candidate to work on a 7 day rotating roster across both facilities, including weekends and some public holidays

Role Responsibilities

• Perform animal care tasks such as cleaning cages, feeding, exercising, enrichment activities, medicating and assessments
• Provide basic first aid to animals when required
• Transporting animals
• Provide high level communication to managers and colleagues
• Provide high level customer service to members of the public and other stakeholders
• Perform Administration tasks including: answering phones, data entry and record keeping
• Assist with the operation and management of the day to day functions

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following skills and experience:

• Minimum Certificate II Animal Care
• Experience in a similar role
• Current microchipping licence
• Experience in Canine behavioural assessments and training
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal
• Physical, mental and emotional capabilities suitable to the role
• Ability to lift 20 kgs
• Strong initiative and organisational skills
• Attention to detail
• Current drivers licence (manual experience)
