The Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health (SMAH) comprises of the Schools of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences; Earth, Atmospheric Life Sciences; Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences; Nursing; and the Graduate School of Medicine. The Animal and Environment Facility is a research platform supporting laboratory animal studies, geospatial systems (remote sensing) and field work research activities.
We are seeking an Animal and Environment Facility Manager to oversee the efficient and effective operation of the facilities related laboratories and assets. In this role you will manage staff, budgets, equipment, safety procedures, risk management, auditing, reporting, and maintain commercial contracts and relationships. You will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and conducive environment for research, experiments, and academic pursuits both within the university's scientific community and commercially
To be successful you will hold post-graduate qualifications in either an Earth Science, Biological, or Ecological discipline with extensive relevant experience in laboratory work, handling of animals and/or fieldwork or have extensive scientific experience and management expertise deemed equivalent. An aptitude to comprehending and applying legislation and policy to operational work, is required as well as experience working in a scientific laboratory including animal handling, animal ethics and undertaking fieldwork. Your knowledge of the higher education sector in Australia and proven capacity to develop business opportunities, particularly in line with the National Research Infrastructure Strategy will be highly regarded.
Special Job Requirements:
- This position will likely be required to work outside standard business hours or occasionally weekends, as determined by operational requirements of the facilities.
