About the opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for self-motivated and experienced individuals to join our team at the new Blacktown Animal Rehoming Centre (BARC) in Glendenning as Animal Aides.
We are seeking to fill:
- 1 x permanent, full-time role
- various casual roles
These positions will be responsible to facilitate the transition of all animals into and out of the center including all associated paperwork and customer service. An ideal candidate will assist in maintaining a high standard of animal housing presentation and animal welfare within BARC.
The rostered days for this role are between Monday - Sunday.
Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- Relevant qualifications in an appropriate field
- Demonstrated customer service experience or administration experience with both telephone and face-to-face inquiries in a fast-paced and high-volume area
- Demonstrated a high level of experience in handling and working with companion animals
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment
- Experience in PC applications
- Current Class “C” driver’s licence.
Desirable:
- Sound knowledge of all relevant Acts, Regulations, and Guidelines of the Companion Animals Act 1998
- Authority to implant microchips
- Ability to drive a manual vehicle.
Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

Permanent, full-time role
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,222.32 per week
- 38-hour working week
- Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
- Penalty rates apply for weekend shifts.
Casual roles
- An hourly rate applies at $32.1663 (Grade 5, entry level) plus 25% casual loading and
- Penalty rates apply for weekend shifts.
