Massey University School of Veterinary Science is looking for a new seven-month fixed-term, full-time (37.5 hours/week) Anatomy Teaching Technician. The position is based on Massey's Manawatū campus in Palmerston North.

The role is focused on providing support for anatomy teaching to veterinary science students. You can expect lots of variety in this role as you will work alongside the head anatomy technician to source and prepare animal materials for anatomy teaching, set-up and break-down for student laboratories, clean and maintain the preparation and teaching facilities after each laboratory and help create inventory systems for teaching materials and laboratory supplies.

To be successful, you will need to be highly organized, pay close attention to detail, maintain high standards in all your work and show respect for both live animals and animal tissues used in teaching. Experience and confidence handling and restraining animals, particularly dogs, is required. A valid driver's licence is essential. A talent for developing systems for organizing and cataloguing materials is desirable.

You must be comfortable dealing with fresh and preserved animal tissues and their preparation. Health and safety training will be provided. While most of your work will be preparing and organizing teaching materials and maintaining facilities, you may also be involved in guiding students in some laboratories.
