Position Summary
Adjunct faculty serve as temporary part-time faculty and are appointed as needed on a semester-by-semester basis. Primary responsibility involves effective teaching of online college-level courses and/or labs in the qualified discipline.
This position reports to the Veterinary Technology Program Director and/or Lead Faculty for an assigned course. Veterinary Technology adjuncts are responsible for administering assigned sections of online courses by evaluating student learning, maintaining student records, providing assignment feedback, and actively connecting with online students in assigned courses. In addition to time required for grading of assignments, Adjunct instructors should maintain a minimum of 1-3 office hours per week per assigned course for student appointments, participating in Adjunct Professional Development activities and completing required online training. Adjunct instructors must work to demonstrate and promote the school values of: Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect and Excellence.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates must have received an Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA Accredited Veterinary Technology Program or be a DVM/VMD.
Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience and those which have also graduated from an AVMA Accredited Veterinary Technology Program and have earned their RVT/LVT/CVT designation. Courses assigned based on knowledge, experience, and current program needs.
Teaching experience with online courses preferred with the ability to use San Juan College's Learning Management System (Canvas) as well as technology-enhanced curriculum.
Access to home internet, a personal computer, and telephone is required. Demonstrates skill and willingness to learn and use multiple technology platforms to communicate with students.
