(HEO3) $56,811 to $64,416 per annum plus an employer contribution of up to 17% superannuation may apply.

2x Continuing positions and 2 x Fixed Term position for one year available immediately.

Join a team of talented and dedicated veterinary nurses providing high quality support to the clinical teaching veterinarians and practice clinicians in a state of the art facility.

 

We are seeking 4x Veterinary Nurses each who specialise in the following areas:

  1. Surgery, Anaesthesia & Imaging (Continuing, part time 0.60FTE position available)
  2. General Practice (Continuing, full time position available)
  3. Medicine (Fixed term, full time position available)
  4. Emergency Critical Care (Fixed term, full time position available)

The veterinary nurse works as a member of the Veterinary Health Centre’s (VHC) professional staff services team of nurses, working in department teams.  These roles provide nursing support to the clinical teaching veterinarians and practice clinicians across a range of services, including general practice, oncology, medicine, emergency and critical care and surgery/anaesthesia.  Nursing staff are encouraged to focus on areas of strength and interest.

The successful candidate will have worked in a small animal practice for a minimum of 3 years or have the relevant equivalent experience.

The unique nursing opportunities in the Companion Animal Health Centre will provide an opportunity to advance your skill levels in areas of surgery, anaesthesia, internal medicine, and patient care, by working alongside senior general practitioners, emergency and critical care veterinary team and Specialists in Oncology, Surgery, and Anaesthesia.  This opportunity will take you to the next level of your career.

Nurses are encouraged and supported with continuing education through internal and external opportunities, You will work alongside visiting specialists and experts in their field from around the world giving you the ability to be involved in advanced treatment plans, surgery and procedures. The clinic has advanced imaging equipment such as CT, endoscopy, arthroscopy, and advanced monitoring (including invasive blood pressure).

Successful candidates, will be enthusiastic, team-oriented with a passion for delivering the highest standards of service and care and have proven experience as a veterinary nurse in a clinical setting. You will be able to work in high pressure situations, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be motivated to mentor the next generation of vets and veterinary technologists by imparting knowledge and modelling the highest standards of professional behaviour.

The Veterinary Health Centre is situated on the University’s picturesque Roseworthy Campus, approximately 9km from the township of Gawler and on the doorstep of the world-renowned Barossa Valley wine region.

 

To be successful you will need:

  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently but participate cooperatively in team activities.
  • Attention to detail in record keeping and documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience and /or knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Veterinary nursing experience in Internal Medicine, Oncology or Specialty hospital.
  • Demonstrated experience in legal and regulatory requirements for nurses in South Australia.

Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and Cornerstone would be an advantage.
