We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Equine Practice (Education Focused), to join a team of outstanding world class clinical specialist academic colleagues at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Camden. The primary focus will be to expand knowledge and clinical proficiency within the discipline of Equine practice. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to the Camden Equine Centre (CEC) within the University Teaching Hospital to contribute to the student experience in ambulatory practice, the hospital setting and the development of the Centre of Excellence for equine sports medicine. The Vision of the Centre is to be a world leader in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of horses with sports related injuries and illnesses through innovative research in the field while training the veterinarians of the future.

The education focused role is a specialised category of academic engagement reserved for talented educators with a passion for, and demonstrated excellence in, pedagogical practice and design. A Senior Lecturer (Education-focused) is expected to make significant contributions to teaching and learning within their School/ Faculty and engage in educational leadership at School, Faculty or University level.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• contribute to outstanding educational design, delivery, evaluation and outcomes
• undertake independent teaching in equine
• engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences (at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level) which meet the University’s expectations and standards for education-focused staff
• design and deliver quality educational units of study and experiences that support student needs and meet curriculum requirements
• engage in research supervision, in accordance with the requirements and expectations of the school
• systematically collect and use feedback on student learning to adjust educational approaches to improve student outcomes
• evaluate teaching and learning - both at a program level and in relation to own practice – and apply learnings to improve practice and outcomes
• apply knowledge of contemporary pedagogical practice to innovate education.

The School is internationally accredited with the American Veterinary Medical Association, Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council and Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (UK) by reciprocal agreement. About you

• a veterinary degree registerable in NSW
• a specialist qualification in equine clinical discipline registerable in NSW
• a PhD (or near completion) in the area of equine science with quality publications
• a track record in research in equine science /sports practice
• exceptional experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by leading team teaching
• demonstrated success in supporting the academic endeavour in providing a student enabling environment
• a willingness to undertake the Graduate Certificate in Education Studies (Higher Education) or a comparable PG course in teaching and learning.
