We are currently seeking a Team Leader (Western) to lead and coordinate the Western Regional Services team delivering the new Land Management Framework under the NSW Biodiversity Reform.

As the Team Leader you will:

  • Lead a team to partner with rural landholders, stakeholders, partners, industry groups and community to deliver agricultural productivity gains, natural resource management and environmental programs
  • Plan initiatives, and negotiate and facilitate stakeholder contributions to inform project implementation and decision-making to achieve identified strategic objectives
  • Assist with biosecurity projects and undertakes activities to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies.

Other tasks performed specific to this role include:

  • Liaise with other regional SLM team leaders, manager of Operational Performance and other units with SLM on a regular basis
  • Liaise with Western LLS management and staff about the reform
  • Assist with regional performance reporting and ministerials when required
  • Facilitate and lead local and regional information sessions to raise SLM and the reform awareness within the community

This program is managed by the Sustainable Land Management unit and aims to halt declining biodiversity, facilitate ecologically sustainable development and support efficient rural land management and agricultural production across the State.

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a discipline relevant to the primary industries portfolio and / or equivalent experience in delivery of frontline services to primary industries, emergency management or the natural resources sector.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team through a major project or program.
  • Drivers licence and willingness to travel.
  • Understanding of the needs and issues facing land holders and stakeholders in achieving sustainable economic development.
