The position of Senior Veterinary Officer ‚Äď Animal Health and Welfare Policy is within the Chief Veterinary Officer’s Unit. This unit is part of the Biosecurity and Agriculture Services Branch in Agriculture Victoria, within the Employment, Investment and Trade Group.
The Employment, Investment and Trade Group delivers programs and services to grow the Victorian economy.¬† Its focus is on creating jobs and raising incomes through industry development, targeted investment and increasing the export value of Victorian firms.
This position provides specialist technical and policy advice on animal health and welfare issues, including implementation of policy and legislation, to the Manager Veterinary Science, Chief Veterinary Officer and other senior departmental staff. The position will also contribute to emergency preparedness and response.
The successful candidate will have an appropriate tertiary degree in veterinary science and registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria is mandatory. Experience in the provision of high level technical and policy advice on animal health and welfare issues at state and/or national level, particularly in relation to livestock, and well developed written and oral skills, are required.
