About the project:

The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) promotes profitable agriculture, fisheries and forestry industries for Queensland.

DAF employs about 2000 people in areas including policy development, leading-edge science, Biosecurity, fisheries and forestry management, trade and export.

Biosecurity Queensland protects Queensland’s plants and animals from Biosecurity threats that could jeopardise our important industries.  The Biosecurity Queensland Control Centre manages the eradication program for Red Imported Fire Ants, an invasive pest that have the potential to cause an enormous negative impact on agriculture, wildlife, domestic pets, and our Queensland lifestyle.

This program of work is at a critical stage, our objective and challenge is to eradicate this pest from Queensland, and in doing so achieve an outcome that would be hugely significant for Queensland and Australia.

Salary: $92,189 – $98,635

Position requirements:

Knowledge of and ability to use ArcGIS and/or SQL programming or business analytics software is highly desirable but not mandatory.
