As a Field Veterinary Officer you will work as a member of the Primary Industry team to protect and enhance the health and welfare and marketability of livestock in the Katherine and Barkly regions of the Northern Territory.
The position reports to the Principal Veterinary Officer, Livestock Biosecurity Branch located in Darwin.

Key duties of the position include:

– Manage the delivery of disease investigation, disease surveillance and disease control services for livestock producers.
– Provide support in the certification for inspection and treatment of livestock for movements.
– Provide expert technical advice on animal health and welfare to livestock producers, industry professionals and the community.
– Manage the delivery of community engagement and extension to livestock producers and the community.
– Provide leadership and management in emergency responses of animal, plant and aquatic pests or diseases.
– Administer the NT Livestock Act and other relevant legislation and undertake legislation compliance functions including investigation of alleged breaches.

Knowledge of the national animal health system and/or experience in animal health policy development and formal training or experience in the interpretation and application of legislation and conduct of investigations of alleged breaches of legislation is desirable.

A relevant tertiary qualification in Veterinary Science and eligibility for registration in the Northern Territory is required.

Professional 2 Remuneration Package Range $90,367 – $108,123 / Professional 3 Remuneration Package Range $111,409 – $124,576
