The Ministry for Primary Industries has an exciting and challenging level three opportunity as Director of Verification Services.

You will be accountable for a significant P&L, a management team of four, a business unit of over 300 nationally spread staff and a diverse variety of stakeholder relationships across primary industry, professional bodies and academic institutions.

As Director you will have significant accountability including a large cost centre, the provision of verification, assurance and related services for processing and export of animal products and food. Additionally, this business unit supports MPIs response capability.

To be successful you will need to demonstrate a wide variety of skills and experience including proven financial / business acumen of a business unit, people leadership including building high performing teams, strategic vision development, change management and operational implementation together with excellent stakeholder management experience.

Key Skills / Educational Requirements:
• Relevant tertiary qualification
• Experience in senior management roles
• Extensive and proven financial management skills
• People management and leadership
• Extensive stakeholder management and consultation across a range of internal and external stakeholder groups
• Strong communications experience, including presenting, media engagement and strategic vision
• You must be able to effectively articulate a clear strategic vision to a variety of stakeholders, including customers and staff

• Tertiary qualification/s Veterinary, Food Sciences or Biosecurity
• Thorough working knowledge of the delivery of safe and suitable animal and food products
• Extensive knowledge of trade and commerce regarding animal, plant and food products
• Up-to-date knowledge of international food regulatory environment
